It’s finally time for 2022’s first roaming partnership announcing X-TELIA as its partner. X-TELIA, a Quebec-based company, has joined the Helium ecosystem as a roaming partner. With Helium’s blockchain technology, X-TELIA’s LoRaWAN-compatible devices can seamlessly access the Helium Network coverage throughout Canada, the United States, and around the world thanks to this new roaming integration.
As a leader in the field of IoT networks, X-TELIA provides end-to-end IoT solutions that empower cities to operate more efficiently, industries to operate more efficiently, and citizens to be safe. Helium Network will benefit from increased usage and an increased presence in Canada as a result of this roaming partnership between X-TELIA and Helium Network.
X-TELIA currently supports use cases across a wide variety of verticals, from tracking and detecting forest fires to snow removal, flood warnings, reading water meters, measuring the temperature at the bottom of the ocean, and even preventing heatstroke in cows. AIoT Canada, Videotron Business, and Tektelic Communications are just a few of the partners and clients X-TELIA already works with.
There are over 516K Helium Hotspots in 39K+ cities and 163 countries in the Helium Network, which has experienced unprecedented growth across the globe. Due to its increased growth, more and more non-Helium devices are now being dropped from the network.
Roaming agreements, offered by Helium, allow Helium to transfer traffic to other wireless networks, which increases usage for Helium and provides coverage for its partners globally. The emphasis on usage is shifting away from providing coverage for HNT rewards over time, so roaming with partners such as X-TELIA will become an important driver of data transfer for Hotspot owners.
Roaming agreements aren’t just beneficial to Helium; operators of IoT networks with Helium receive the following benefits:
- The rapid expansion of Helium Network’s global reach
- Network operators can see immediate ROI without investing in or deploying additional gateways by using existing LoRaWAN infrastructure
- No contracts or subscriptions; only pay by usage (data transfer)
- The ability to create redundancy in existing coverage areas
